Love Blooms in Winter Review
Love Blooms in Winter
Author: Lori Copland
Rating: 4
Synopsis:
Mae Wilkey lives in a small town in North Dakota. She lives next to her 90 year old neighbor who suffers from dementia. Not knowing if she had any family, Mae searches through the old woman's desk. She finds a little slip of paper with the name Tom Curtis and an address. In hopesthat Tom is her last surviving family member, she sends him letters asking that he come and see if they could possibly be related. After much doubt, Tom makes the trip to this tiny town to find out if he is related to this aging woman.
WARNING:
The sexual content in the book is clean. It is set in 1892 where long skirts and proper English where a requirement. A long kiss is shared between Tom and Mae after a close call with a train but nothing further. A bull is killed in a train accident and the girls end up cutting it up for meat but other than the author describing blood on the clothing nothing else was explained.
My Opinion:
Personally, it took me a while to get into this book. The beginning was a little slow and the arguing between Mae and Tom was a little annoying and hard to follow. But, toward the middle of the book it gets more exciting and you get more acquainted with the characters. I would recommend this book, but I would just suggest patience as you let it unfold.
