Two Weeks (The Baxter Family, #5) Review

Two Weeks (The Baxter Family, #5) Review

Two Weeks (The Baxter Family, #5)

Author: Karen Kingsbury

Rating: 4

My Opinion

When I read the back of the book, I was really excited to get started! It sounded like a lot of drama was about to unfold, and boy was I right! It took a few chapters for the book to become entrancing, but Mrs. Kingsbury knows how to keep her readers on their toes. Another aspect that stuck out to me was the truth behind the problems each of the characters face. You can almost feel the pain and the hurt radiate off of the pages. This book is hard to read for long periods, but it is totally worth it!

Synopsis

Elise moves in with her aunt and uncle, starting her senior year in a new school and a new state. On the first day of school, she meets a handsome, baseball player named Cole Blake who takes her under his wing. The two spend all of their free time together, and when Elise’s dark past catches up with her, Cole is the one who stands by her side. Wanting to be like his dad, Cole proposes marriage to Elise and promises to be the father her child deserves. The other option is to give the baby up for adoption to a couple named, Aaron and Lucy Williams. The Williams' have been struggling with infertility for many years and want nothing more than a child to call their own. Elise is leaning towards adoption, but she is told that she has two weeks before the adoption is final, where she can change her mind. Watch God work through both couples struggles, while also impacting those around them.

WARNING

Elise does talk about her past a little and how she was raped by her ex-boyfriend. She talks about going to parties and drinking underage. A girl gets in a car accident and is killed, leaving family and friends struggling emotionally.

This book is all about the restoration and healing God can bring to those who are broken. He also knows what we need, when we need it, and how much we can handle. He loves each and every one of us more than we can imagine. I hope you read this book and pick out these themes for yourselves!
