4 Steps to Find Good Clean Books!
So if you are headed to the library and want to find a good book here are some steps to help make it a little easier:
1. Use the 5 word limit; when I say the 5 word limit it means for bad language. If you are reading a book and notice bad language start counting how many you see. If there are more than 5 in a couple chapters it is probably time to put the book down and try another one. My general rule is, if it starts out with more than five then it is probably not going to get better in the end.
2. My mom has taught me stay away from things like witchcraft. A quick read of the back page summary will tell you if it contains any of this. You can decide for yourself but for me that is not something I want to feed my mind.
3. Another tip when reading the back of a book is how much they talk about relationships. If the back is all about love, romance or has sexual innuendos then it could be a red flag for adult content. Not saying that all romance books are like that because personally, I love romance but, too much sappiness can ruin a book for me.
4. If you are still not sure about a book then read a couple of the first pages or possibly the last page (my mom does this last part so it doesn’t ruin the ending for me). Thanks Mom! But, I sometimes do this if the summary sounds a bit boring but the title looks cool.
Hopefully these 4 steps can help the next time you go searching for a book!
