The Lieutenant's Bargain (The Fort Reno Series Book 2) Review
The Lieutenant’s Bargain
Author: Regina Jennings
Rating: 5
My Opinion
Regina Jennings has impressed me yet again. I read this book in two days and could not put it down! I fell so in love with the characters that it felt like I was there with them. I would suggest reading Holding the Fort before starting this book, but you will understand it without reading the other one. The story was playful yet intense and showed of love and devotion.
Synopsis
Hattie Walker has wanted to become a painter since before she can remember, but now that she is in her twenties her parents want her to settle down. She and her parents come up with a compromise that puts Hattie on a stagecoach with two passengers on the way to Denver. During one of the stops, the stagecoach is ambushed, and all passengers die with only one survivor-Hattie. Left alone in the desert Hattie must wait for help to come in the unlikely form of the Arapaho. Hattie is terrified but when Lieutenant Jack Hennessey shows up her day gets a little brighter. It just so happens that the two knew each other from school and Jack has had a crush on Hattie since he was little. Through a mistake in communication, Hattie and Jack end up in a situation that puts them both a risk.
WARNING
When the stagecoach is ambushed, two people are killed during the gunfight. Hattie is also held at gunpoint in the end by one of the bad guys in search of money. The man is thrown out of the doors on the second floor of the building and proclaimed dead. SPOILER ALERT: the two are accidentally married and live together in the same house. There are a few kisses, but nothing that needs to be stated.
