Short-Straw Bride

Author: Karen Witemeyer

Rating: 5

My Opinion:

Every time I read something from Karen Witemeyer I am impressed with how much I identify with her characters. Sometimes, I even wish that I could be her characters. She grips my heart with every page and i feel as if I am walking along with the characters. My imagination runs free. This is the second time I have read this book and I will continue to read it again and again! Her books fill me with excitement and cause me to feel so many emotions.

Synopsis:

From the moment Meredith Hayes's lunch pail was tossed onto the Archer’s land, she could not get Travis Archer out of her mind. Even though she was only a little girl, she still remembered the hero that saved her from a wolf trap. Travis Archer made his reputation as a mean, scary man and didn’t leave his land due to a promise to his dying father when he was only fifteen years old. However, when a pretty little girl with blue eyes gets hurt on his property, he feels the need to make it right. Breaking the promise to his father, he leaves the land to take her home. Fast forward many years, Meredith still remembers her hero. As she overhears a plot to destroy the Archers barn she springs to action. In an attempt to help her hero, she takes it upon herself to warn him.

WARNING:

SPOILER ALERT!! Meredith and Travis do get married. As their relationship grows they experience adult feelings and want to further their relationship. There is a lot of guns and burning down of a barn but no one is seriously hurt.
